Sculptures That I Created With Hundreds Of Thousands Of Nails

I am a sculptor of the human physique and I use nails to create my sculptures. Self-Taught Artist Discovers Incredible Painting Skills While Taking Care of His Sick Dog

Derbyshire-based painter Darren Reid creates stunning, photorealistic landscapes of serene seascapes, expansive landscapes, and bustling cityscapes. Each work, when looked at closely enough, reveals a layer of acrylic detail that heightens the painting to a hyperrealistic level. A road is not just a road, but a pointillist blend of colors (think Seurat or Pissarro) that fuse together when looked at to play tricks on the viewer’s eye. Reid has mastered a strange and awesome technique: how to take impressionist skills and turn them into reality. His paintings, often of stark country houses or gritty industrial pavements, reinvent what it means to look at the world. He shows us there is more than meets the eye at first glance. Despite his keen eye and skilled hand, Reid picked up his paintbrush later in life, as a means of distraction. In 2011, his dog became ill, which left Reid housebound much of the time. In between giving his dog insulin injections every eight hours for the next two…

Self-Taught Artist Shares Stunning Process Behind Her Remarkable Paintings and Drawings

Self-taught artist Andreea Berindei has honed her painting and drawing skills to an extraordinary level. A passionate artist, she first began to paint at a very early age and cites the source of her creativity to rest in her faith and unwavering dedication to her spirituality. Born in Romania, the young Berindei has received multiple awards for her remarkable pieces, and for years has used her talent to spread positivity through her involvement in the Peace Project, an organization that seeks to render social change by mobilizing the creative community.Delicate and vibrant shading work imbues Berindei’s colorful drawings and paintings with a realistic quality that speaks volumes to her artistic abilities. As the nature and material of her work varies over time, Berindei continuously proves that she is equally talented, no matter the subject matter. Landscape drawings of powerful cresting waves are just as well done as the fine veins snaking through the petals of her flower paintings,…

Majestic Animal Illustrations Hand Drawn with Intricately Hypnotizing Patterns

UK-based artist Faye Halliday creates art that’s inspired by a combination of her travels, her attempts to inspire love, creativity, and adventure in others, and her desire to understand and capture beauty. She uses ink and intricate patterns to create elaborate portraits of animals and symbols. “I’ve always been inspired by beauty. Never on a superficial level, but more so as a concept; an interpretation and what it means to different people.”Halliday calls the journey of her art Haathi, which came about during her experience at The Elephant Festival in Jaipur, Rajasthan. For this single day of the year, elephant owners celebrate and embellish the beautiful creatures with vibrant colored scarves, headdresses, saddle cloth, and heavy jewelry while people perched atop sprinkle colored powder. After the Festival, she was compelled to explore the concept and perceptions of beauty around the world.Halliday declares that her works of art are her visions of beauty, soul, and…

I’ve Found A Way To Make People Smile Whilst Making A Living Travelling The World

Ever since Bored Panda helped my photography style go viral last year (see my previous posts here and here), I’ve been flooded with offers to pick up my camera & paper cut-outs and head off to some incredible destinations. Over the last six months I’ve been to Singapore, Nanjing, Hong Kong, Val D’Isere, New York and Las Vegas with various tourist boards and brands. It’s been an incredible string of adventures around the world, all whilst pursuing new levels of creativity in my photos- and what’s made these last six months extra special is that people around the globe have taken an interest in what I do.

I Spent 15 Years Photographing Cities In Water Drops

The story starts 15 years ago with a photo from my window. I kept this technique and photos away from public as I wanted to show it to the World first. And what a better way to do it with the greatest city in the World, New York! Some of the photos are on film, but most of them are digital, but it is a macro photography technique, not a Photoshop, that is why it has flaws in sharpness and a lot of blurs.

Optical Illusion Graffiti Creates Portal to a Parallel Universe on the Side of a Building

Parisian graffiti artist Astro contorts flat architectural facades into illusory vortexes with a vibrant graphic twist. His painted patterns combine smooth, swirling curves and calligraphy with sharper shapes in dynamically detailed designs that are eye-catching on their own; and, as if to suck his viewers farther into each piece, he adds the appearance of dark, receding chasms, tunneling deep into the walls.Astro’s newest work is a massive and arresting mural on a residential building in Loures, Portugal, just south of Lisbon. Created on behalf of urban art project Loures Art Publica, the mind-bending masterpiece uses electric blue tones to create the semblance of shadows, and incorporates the artist’s trademark technique of warped perspective to contrive a fictional abyss. The optical illusion seems to offer entry to a parallel universe, so ordinary passersby might step off the sidewalk into new dimensions of time and space. Here’s more of Astro’s illusionary street art:…

This Spinning Illusion Is Obviously Some Sort of Light Magic

I don’t know how these tiny dancers got trapped inside this spinning zoetrope but it’s the only explanation I can come up with for this insane light animation. Their movements are so smooth, and the shining light captures the grace of their dance so well that I’m sure some sort of magic has to be at play here.

Surrealistic Illustrations by Antonio Segura Donat aka Dulk

Dulk is a hungry and insatiable all terrain illustrator. Urban art, illustration and graphic design are his fields, his twisted imagination does the rest. He has shown his work in England, Germany, Holland, France, Italy and Belgium, where he has recently won a major international award. His style is an explosive combination of influences like Caravaggio’s tenebrism or the obsessive detail brushwork of Flemish painting, all mixed with a bizarre, burlesque and affectionate touch that makes it compact, direct and very honest. Antonio enjoys creating characters and stories based on his own dreams and everyday events, mixing fact and fiction, with a touch of pop surrealism. He’s one of the leading figures of the Spanish illustration scene. https://vimeo.com/133736279 https://vimeo.com/122232638

Incredibly Realistic Wood Carvings Look Good Enough to Eat – My Modern Met

Wood carving artist Seiji Kawasaki has us completely duped with his amazingly realistic food creations. Hand-carving blocks of wood down to perfection, he then paints his pieces to mimic the intricate shading and details that are naturally found in each food item—you would never be able to guess that his sardines started their lives on land instead of sea. Just be careful not to mistake Kawasaki’s creations for the real thing, or you might lose a tooth to a chunk of driftwood that looks a lot like a tempting chocolate bar.The delectable-looking pieces take about 2-3 hours to complete, which is amazing considering the amount of detail apparent within each tiny recreation. While some are just lovely decorative pieces, often he attaches an element of functionality to his carvings, such as turning petite peppers into chopstick rests. Kawasaki’s cunning handiwork demonstrates a high level of artistry (and is also delightfully deceptive). He regularly posts new carvings to his Twitter and…

Alluring Illusions of Technicolor Portals Are Actually 2D Wall Paintings

We already know German artist 1010 for his vivid murals, which appear like multilayered, technicolor portals into parallel dimensions. Now, he has opened a new show at Milan’s 10 A.M. ART gallery, with an exhibition that includes not only a mural across the building’s entire exterior in his hallmark style, but also a collection of paintings displayed inside. Though smaller in scale than his street art, these new works might be even more remarkable. The compiled tones pop like paper cuts mounted with spacers in between the different slivers, receding into deep orifices—but in fact, the concave effect is an illusion created by 1010’s careful contrasts of light and shadow, created using nothing more than paint.Selected from several of the artist’s series, with titles including Portal, Limbus, Void, Fluss, and Abyss, some of the pieces present as craggy chasms like sliced geodes, while others take the form of smooth circular holes. Each multi-hued variation demands a closer look,…

Artist Spends Over 8 Hours Recreating Iconic Paintings on an Etch A Sketch

For most of us, the Etch A Sketch is just a toy, but for artist Jane Labowitch, it’s an unconventional canvas and tool for her intricate drawings. Twisting and turning the two plastic knobs, she’s recreated one of history’s most iconic pointillist paintings: Georges Seurat’s 1884 masterpiece, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte. It took Labowitch eight and a half hours to render its likeness—all while she was sitting in front of the original piece at the Art Institute of Chicago. The results are impressive, to say the least. Especially when held up next to Seurat’s painting, it’s made abundantly clear that Labowitch has managed to capture the essence of the masterpiece’s composition. Labowitch has been honing her craft for nearly all her life. “I’ve been pretty consistently using an Etch A Sketch as an artistic medium since I first started playing with the toy when I was 4,” she told Chicagoist. As an adult, she recognizes that patience is the key to creating a detailed piece like this. “It…

Misplaced → New York

misplThe Misplaced Series removes notable New York buildings from their surroundings and “misplaces” them in desolate landscapes around the world. Concrete behemoths and steel-and-glass towers rise from sand dunes and rocky cliffs, inviting viewers to see them as if for the first time. Out of context, architectural forms become more pronounced and easily understood. Each image is accompanied by a vignette, a flight of fancy that enhances the overall sense of absurdity, mystery, and humor. They are like scenes from a movie never made, fitting companions to images that could never actually be.

My name is Igor Dobrowolski I am an artist living in Poland. In my work there are many topics that I try to move, such as death, depression, war children, the problems of the poor and homeless, addiction, narcissism, lack of empathy. However, the binding agent that combines all of these problems or stories is suffering, particle of hope and attempt reminder that life can be terrible, cruel and thereby show that our problems are not so great, and all in all it almost does not exist in comparison to the aforementioned tragedy and thus can appreciate your life, our time, or ordinary moments, and the emphasis on understanding empathy, pressure empathy.
